Son of Johann VI, Count of Nassau, Katzenelnbogen and Diez (1536-1606)
In 1605 he studied at the University of Sedan. In 1607 he inherited Hadamar. He served in the Army of the States-General of the Netherlands, under Prince Maurice of Orange. Photographs: portrait, his coffin in the princely crypt and a marble plate in the Stadtkirche, made in 1965 and covering his heart, which was found back during a restauration. In the 17th Century it had been intered in the monastery of the Jesuits, to which 'his heart belonged'.
