Dr. Joseph F. Messenbaugh, 55, 706 E. 11th, died Tuesday morning. Survivors: wife Mrs. Laura M. Messenbaugh; one son, Joseph F. Messenbaugh; a daughter, Miss Edith Messenbaugh, all of Oklahoma City, and one brother, E.T. Messenbaugh, Brymer, Mo. Services will be conducted form the Hahn funeral home Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock by Rev. F.S. Porter. Interment Rose Hill.

6/20/1928 Former Mayor Of Oklahoma City Dies
Oklahoma City lost a pioneer citizen with the death Tuesday of Dr. Joseph F. Messenbaugh, 55 years old, 706 W. 11th street. Death resulted from peritonitis.
Elected mayor of Oklahoma City in 1904, Messenbaugh was instrumental in securing many civic improvements for the growing city. He came to Oklahoma in 1900.
Messenbaugh was president of the Washington University Alumni association and was a member of many civic clubs. He is survived by a brother, E.T. Messenbaugh, of Braymer, Mo.

Services for Former Mayor To Be Held at 4 o'clock
Funeral services for Dr. Joseph F. Messenbaugh, 55 years old, 706 W. 11th street, will be held at 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon in the Hahn funeral home.
Doctor Messenbaugh, former mayor here, died Tuesday morning in a hospital after a long illness. He had been a practicing physician and an eye, ear, nose and throat specialist for 25 years. HE was mayor of Oklahoma City for two years just prior to statehood.
Bearers will be Dr. George A. LaMotte, Dr. M. Smith, Dr. D.D. McHenry, Dr. John F. Kuhn, Dr. Curt Von Wedel and Dr. Grider Peuick.
He is survived by his wife and two children, Joseph F., jr. and Edith F. and by one brother, E.T. Messenbaugh of Braymer, Mo.
Doctor Messenbaugh had been president of the Oklahoma County Medical society, a member of the staff at St. Anthony's hospital, president of the Washington University Alumni association, a member of A.U.V.W. and of the First Baptist church. He was a partner of Dr. LaMotte for 21 years.

Dr. Joseph F. Messenbaugh, one time mayor of Oklahoma City and practicing physician for a quarter of a century, was buried in Rose Hill cemetery Thursday afternoon.
Funeral services were held in the Hahn funeral home where hundreds of old friends gathered to hear Rev. F.S. Porter, pastor of Trinity Baptist church, speak the last rites.
Doctor Messenbaugh was 55 years old, and lived at 706 W. 11th street. He died Tuesday morning after an illness lasting more than a year. He is survived by his wife, two children, Joseph F. jr., and Edith F. and by a brother, E.T. Messenbaugh of Braymer, Mo. (THE OKLAHOMAN)
