William Thomas Ora Nichols was born February 18, 1893, in St. Clair Co., Missouri, the eldest child of Otha Benton and Nellie Belle Nichols. He passed away October 21, 1970, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Bob Hamilton near Carrollton, MO, at the age of 77 years, 8 months, and 3 days.

He spent his entire life in this county and was united in marriage March 1915, to Lena Dunham and to this union were born three sons: Homer Lee of Harrisonville, Junior of Rockville, and Melvin, who passed away Nov. 27, 1937.

In April 1936, he was united in marriage to Elsie Gregg and to this union one daughter, Merlene was born.

He accepted his Lord early in life and in February 1953, he joined the Mt. Zion Methodist Church near Taberville, Mo., where he remained a faithful member.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, the son, two brothers, two sisters, and three grandchildren.

Surviving are the two sons and one daughter, two brothers, Everett and Orville Nichols, both of Appleton City, MO., and two sisters, Mrs. Nina Parks of rural Appleton City, Mo., and Mrs. Essie Culbertson, El Dorado Springs, Mo., 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 24, 1970, at the Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Pence, officiating. Musical selections, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and "How Great Thou Art" were by Mrs. Lois VanBuskirk and Mrs. Phyllis Rapp accompanied by Mrs. Robert Breon, organist.

Pallbearers were Gene Parks, Lynn Parks, Glen D. Nichols, Eugene Nichols, Donald Nichols, and Edmond VanBuskirk. Interment was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery under the direction of the Eckhoff Funeral Home, Appleton City, Mo.
