John Hancock Hall was the owner of the oldest gun patent in the U.S. He moved from Maine to Harper's Ferry to set up the machinery for manufacturing interchangeable rifle parts. He sold the patent to the U.S. Government. Later moved to Missouri, where he died and is buried in the family cemetery.
