Elarey served as a Staff Sergeant & Assistant Engineer on B-17F (#42-30119), 346th Bomber Squadron, 99th Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.
He resided in Chittenden County, Vermont prior to the war.
He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on May 14, 1942 in Rutland, Vermont. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Machinist and also as Single, without dependents.
Elarey was "Killed In Action" during the war and was awarded the Purple Heart.
He was originally interred overseas and was later repatriated here on November 30, 1949.
