He married Betsy Harp, of Cherokee Indian Heritage. They had 10 children. He "was killed 1862 at the Battle of Pea Ridge, flag-bearer for the Ar. Confederate Army Infantry, Company E, 14th Regiment." (pg 10 from the book)
