JAMES LLOYD ASKREN

James Lloyd Askren, son of James and Anna Askren, was born Sept. 19, 1893, in Marion county, Iowa and passed from this life Jan. 25, 1955 at the age of 61 years, four months and six days.

He grew to manhood in the vicinity of his birth and most of his life was engaged in farming. On Nov. 25, 1913, he was united in marriage to Eva Bingaman, and their home was established in Lucas county near the Coal Glen church. Three children were born to this union, Mrs. Wilma Thompson, Mrs. Juanita Randall and James S. Askren, all of Chariton.

In early life he accepted Christ as his Saviour and placed his membership in a church of the community where he lived.

Besides the surviving wife and children, he leaves to mourn their loss, seven grandchildren, one brother, Robert of near Columbia, several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

"Jim," as he was known by his many friends, was known for his pleasant, friendly ways and he will be sincerely missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. A. E. Beals, were held in the Miley chapel Jan. 27, at 2 p.m. Interment followed in the Oakdale cemetery.
