Thomas E. Figgins, 87, of Charleston died at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday (Dec. 30, 1987) at Charleston Manor.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Harper-Swickard Chapel with burial at Mound Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

He was born May 25, 1900 in Shelby County, a son of Jacob and Laura Bridges Figgins. He married Iva Tipsword Jan. 9, 1924. She died in 1964. He later married Ruth Diehl, who died in 1980.

He is survived by two sons, Norman Figgins of Honington Beach, Calif. and William E. Figgins of Strasberg; three daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Lucille) Bornman of Downey, Calif., Maxine Gray of Charleston, Mrs. Robert (Faye) Woolever of Santa Ana, Calif.; one brother, Mark E. Figgins of Oswego; four sisters, Mrs. Osa Olsen of Sandwich, Mrs. Elma Hugo of Glendale, Calif., Dorothy Hanks of Eureka, Calif. and M Mrs. Nada Fillbach of Cheeko, Calif.; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Eight brothers, two grandson and one great-granddaughter preceded him in death.

Mr. Figgins was a retired Charleston refuse hauler.
