Birth: reportedly in Belmont (unincorporated), Brown county, Indiana, 7th of seven known chldren.

Parents removed family from Brown county to LaPorte county, Indiana.

Census: 1850, age 12 Noble township, LaPorte county, Indiana with parents & two older siblings, father a manufacture with $7,000 in real estate.

Married at LaPorte in 1861.

Nearly five years later husband removed from LaPorte, LaPorte county, Indiana, fall 1866, for Carthage, Jasper county, Missouri where he purchased a home on Lincoln street then sent for family in spring of 1867. The family then traveled by train to Saint Louis, up the Missouri river by boat to Malta Bend, Saline county, Missouri where a wagon and team of horses was purchased to haul them & their household goods to Carthage.

Mr. Rose was with the Davison-Murphy Company store for a short time after moving to Carthage. That firm later moved to Joplin so he established the Rose Mercantile Company of which he maintained oversight until his 1901 death.

Census: 1870, age 32 Marion township, Jasper county, Missouri with husband, her brother & three children, husband's wealth of $4,000 real estate & $7,000 personal, clerk in store.

Census: 1880, age 42, Carthage, Jasper county, Missouri with hubby & five children on north Lincoln street, hubby a dry goods merchant.

Census: 1900, age 67 Carthage, Jasper county, Missouri with wife, a department store merchant.

Census: 1910, age 72, a widow Carthage, Jasper county, Missouri, with daughters Elizabeth, single & Anne with her husband Fred Hodson listed (?) on Clinton street, she said she had five children four living.

Doshea lived and kept house at her home in Carthage, Missouri until she began suffering from senility and then suffered shock from falling from a chair at age 91 years, 5 months & 21 days old.

FALL FATAL TO AGED WIDOW OF PIONEER MERCHANT

Despite 91 Years, She Maintained Keen Interest In Events-- Lived in Same House 62 years.

Mrs. R.H. Rose, 91 years old, widow of the pioneer Carthage merchant, died at 12:05 o'clock this morning at her home, 123 Lincoln Street, as a result of a fall received about four weeks ago.

Mrs. Rose had always enjoyed excellent health for one of her age. She was recovering from the injuries, received int he first fall when she fell again two weeks later, the shock proving fatal. She was unconscious three days before her death.

Mr. Rose came to Carthage in the fall of 1866 and purchased the house on Lincoln street. where Mrs. Rose passed away. In the spring of 1867 he sent for his family in Indiana. They came to St. Louis by train and from there traveled by boat to Malta Bend, MO. There they purchased a team of wagon and came overland with their household goods. Mr. Rose was with the Davison-Murphy Company Store for a short time after moving to Carthage.
The firm later moved to Joplin and he established the Rose Mercantile Company which conducted until his death.

Doshea descended from Colonel Jeremiah Early, born 1730 in Culpeper county, Virginis, a veteran of the Revolutionary War.

Marriage: Reginald Heber Rose b: 15 SEP 1832 Lynchburg, Virginia.
Married: 31 DEC 1861 LaPorte county, Indiana.

Their children have been;
