Paul was the oldest son of Rev. Lionel Leon BURNETT (1905-1953) and Flossie Eveline HEDGES (1903-2000), both natives of Southern Illinois.
Paul married Doris Lavonne JONES (1922-1995) on 6 Mar 1943, in Dubuque, IA, with the ceremony solemnized by Pastor A. A. Rideout of First Baptist Church of Dubuque. She was a native of White Rock, SD, and the daughter of Lynn Joy JONES (1897-1964) and Fay Beatrice BROWN (1901-1976).
Paul and Lavonne had 3 sons, Michael, David, & Paul.
Paul's brother was John Sherman Ray BURNETT (1934-2020), who, with his wife Carolee (nee CHAFFEE), also had 3 sons, Steve, Kevin, & Greg.
Chief Warrant Officer Paul L. BURNETT served honorably in WWII and was a career Army man. He died in the hospital from a cerebral contusion due to a skull fracture at the back of his head, sustained in a motorcycle accident, off duty, at about 7:00 in the evening near his home in the Hammond Hills neighborhood near Ft. Bragg, NC. He was 37 years old.
