He left the family when my father was about 3, and my uncle was about 1 and a half years old. We had little contact with him over the years. He lived in California for a long time, and that's where he died.
I know that both of his sons grew up to be fine, decent, upstanding men, and 8 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren came along later.
It's a shame he missed out on that.
