"I believe that Evelina's name is engraved erroneously on her marker. I have never seen her called Eveline, except on her marker. Her marriage record reads Evalina and her obituary reads Evelina. She also is Evelina on census records.

I now believe that her father was Samuel Eason, not David Eason, and that her mother was Cynthia McCormick.

Evelina had an older sister, Ann, who was Peter K. Beard's first wife. After Anna died, Evelina married her brother-in-law and raised her nephew and niece as her own. The niece is mentioned in Evelina's obit, Mrs. B. B. Clark (Helen Ann Beard), wife of Burgess B. Clark)."

After more family members have been found, this information proved to be correct.

MRS. EVELINA BEARD DIES
SHE HAD BEEN A RESIDENT OF CARTHAGE FORTY-FIVE YEARS

Had Suffered Many Strokes of Paralysis -
Funeral to Be Tomorrow Afternoon

Mrs. Evelina E. Beard, 82 years old, a resident of Carthage for 45 years, died at 5:30 o'clock this morning at the home of her son, Fred Beard, 103 Meridian Street.

For the past eleven years, Mrs. Beard had been an invalid. Her condition was caused by a stroke of paralysis and between the first time and last Thursday evening when she suffered the last attack, it is said she had been stricken nearly a dozen times with paralysis. Since Thursday evening her condition had been critical and her recovery was not expected.

Mrs. Beard was born December 23, 1830 in Pennsylvania, had she lived until the 23rd of the present month she would have been 82 years old. She moved to Carthage in 1867 with her husband from Iowa. She was married in that state in 1853 to the late P. K. Beard, who for more than twenty years ran the city scales, now under the supervision of Fred Beard.

Fred Beard is the only child living, though she leaves a step-daughter, Mrs. B. B. Clark, of Carthage, and an adopted daughter, Mrs. Edna Lowell, of Saginaw, Missouri.

She was a member of the Presbyterian church. The funeral will be tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 at the Beard home.
Rev. A. J. Van Wagner will be the minister in charge.
