Eugene Nolen Adams, Jr., age 77, went to be with our Lord on October 27, 2009 surrounded by his loved ones after a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Houston, Texas to Eugene N. Adams, Sr. and Mary Belle Daniell Adams on November 8, 1931.

Eugene grew up in Cuero, Texas where he graduated from Cuero High School in 1950. He played football, basketball, and baseball for the Fighting Gobbler Team. He then attended Victoria College in Victoria, Texas. He left college to join the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. After his service in the military, he returned to Cuero. On June 20, 1954, he married Jane Lapp. They lived in Cuero for three years. In October 1957, Eugene and Jane moved to Rockport, Texas in Aransas County. They made their home there for the next 50 years. They are members of the First Baptist Church of Rockport.

He worked for Reynolds Metals for 16 years. During this time, he bought a shrimp boat. This was the beginning of his 47 years of shrimping.

In September 2007, Eugene and Jane moved to Katy, Texas to live with their daughter, Nancy and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Eugene is survived by his wife, Jane; his daughter, Nancy Adams; his son-in-law, Rocky Adams; grandchildren: Eugene N. "Trey" Adams III and wife Caitlin, Clare Adams, Robin Adams, Victoria Adams, Marly Adams, and Nathan Adams, all of Katy; brother, Danny Adams and wife Betty Mae of Rockport; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, October 31, 2009 with funeral services at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Rockport, Texas with interment to follow at 3 p.m. at Hillside Cemetery in Cuero, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to The First Baptist Church of Rockport or to Pancreatic Cancer Research.
