William Bingaman, son of Henry and Louisa Bingaman, was born in Orange county, Indiana, Oct. 2, 1846. He died at his home in Belinda, Ia., on March 9, 1927, aged 80 years, 5 months and 7 days. He came with his parents to Iowa in 1854, locating near the present site of the Oakdale church.

In 1872 he was united in marriage to Melinda Whitlatch. To this union were born four children: Mrs. Fannie Grimes, of Gosport; George, of Columbia; Mrs. Minnie Applegate, of Knoxville; and Bert, of Purdy.

He was converted an joined the Methodist church when a boy and grew in grace until the day of his death. It was no half way measure with him. Family worship was a twice daily occurrence. God had given his beloved peace, and fear of death never entered his mind.

He leaves to mourn his loss a wife, four children, thirteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, three sisters, four brothers and as many friends as he had acquaintances.

Funeral services were conducted at the Pleasant Prairie church by his pastor, Rev. E. J. Zumzieg and interment was made in the Oakdale cemetery.
