Vernon David Borgschatz, 73, formerly of Red Wing, died on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Cerenity Bethesda Senior Care in South Saint Paul.

Born January 18, 1936 in Roscoe Township to Henry and Hulda (Stechman) Borgschatz, he grew up and attended school in Zumbrota. He helped his father on the family farm, had worked at the Roscoe Cheese Factory and drove a milk truck for various farms throughout the Township. He served for several years in the National Guard in Zumbrota. Vernon moved to Red Wing in 1995 and had been employed at ProAct. For the past 3 years he resided at the Cerenity Bethesda Care Center in South Saint Paul. Vernon enjoyed fishing, going for drives in the country, and watching movies.

Vernon is survived by brother, Harlan of Red Wing; 2 sisters, Donna (Curt) Melhouse of Kenyon, and Darlene Johnson of Saint Paul; and 17 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Alton, and Harvey.

Funeral Services will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Zumbrota Cemetery. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
