John Williams Robinson, s. of Eliab Robinson and Lucy Richardson, b. Apr. 23, 1782 at Windham, Conn. He d. Jan. 31, 1863 at Ordsville, Wisconsin, but an extensive search by a direct descendant for the place of his interment yielded no success.

John was twice married. According to the 1925 pub. Robinson Genealogy, on Dec. 1, 1802 at an unstated place, John m. Rebecca Palmer, dau. of Josiah Palmer and Phebe Manning, b. Jan. 15, 1777 at Windham, Conn. She d. circa Nov. 1810 poss. at Easton, Washington County, NY. They had three purported children: Oliver Arthur (or Oliver Asher) in Oct. 1803, Oren Baker in Apr. 1805 who d. an infant in July 1806, and Henry Palmer in Nov. 1810 who d. an infant in Jan. 1814. Unfortunately, none of foregoing can be confirmed by available public or vital records.

On Mar. 25, 1819 at Fair Haven, VT (unpub. Fair Haven Ch. Rec.), John m. Rebecca Merritt, widow of Salmon Norton, Esq., the dau. of Michael Merritt and Lucy Chittenden, b. Mar. 30 (bapt. May 2), 1780 at Killingworth, Conn. She d. Aug. 24, 1863 at Ordsville, Wisconsin and like her husband, an extensive search by a direct descendant for the place of her interment yielded no success. Rebecca had five children by her fist husband, who are outlined in their father's memorial.

John Williams Robinson and Rebecca Merritt had three known children b. at Fair Haven, VT:

• i. Col. William Wallace Robinson, b. Dec. 14, 1819; d. Apr. 27, 1903, Æ. 84. He m. Sarah Jane Fisk on Feb. 5, 1842, dau. of Daniel Fisk and Sarah Jane Bowen, b. Sept. 18, 1819 at Watertown, Jefferson County, NY and d. Nov. 2, 1908, Æ. 90. They had five children.

• ii. Atalanta Robinson, b. Aug. 20, 1822 and d. in infancy Sept. 10, 1822. She was named for the steamship that in 1821 carried a group of missionaries from New York City to Philadelphia on the first leg of their travel to present-day southwest Missouri where they founded Harmony Mission to the Osage Indians.

• iii. Andrew Norton Robinson, b. Mar. 23, 1825; d. at Appleton, Wisc. Dec. 13, 1890, Æ. 66. He m. Charlotte Sarah Williams May 1, 1845, b. July 13, 1827 at Avon, Lorain County, OH and d. Nov. 21, 1908, Æ. 82. They had seven children, the two youngest dying in infancy.
