He was a lifelong resident of the Sparta area. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Sparta Church of Christ. He was past president of the Senior Citizens Complex , where he was the caretaker. He was employed at Gilbert's Furniture for 15 years. In 1975 he retired as cutodian at the Sparta School.
Survivors include his wife Wilma, two sons , James , Billings, and Howard, Nixa, a brother, Fred, Canon City, Colorado, four sisters Mrs. Nora Mutz, La Junta, Colorado, Mrs Blanch Tipton, Bois D'Arc, Mrs Maude Richardson, Oldfield and Mrs Alta McDaniel , Nixa. five grandchildren and one gr-grandchild.
