Stephen Felix Bryant, 86, longtime area farmer, died November 5, 2009 at Southampton Memorial Hospital. A native of Southampton County, he was a son of the late Felix and Rosa Hill Bryant and was predeceased by a son, Felix A. Bryant, three sisters, Inez Worrell, Maude Bryant, and Hazel Jenkins and two brothers, Harry Bryant and George Bryant. Mr. Bryant was a graduate of Newsoms High School, an Army veteran of WW II, and a 50 year Mason. He was a member and former deacon of Boykins Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Betty H. Bryant; three step-children, Dennis Bryant, Larry Bryant, and Nancy B. Marks; six grandchildren, Tessa and Cassie Bryant, Carly Williams, Alex and Keith Bryant, and Melanie Marks; one sister, Ann B. Jordan; and one brother, W. T. Bryant. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 pm Sunday at Beechwood Cemetery with the Rev. Raymond Bunn and the Rev. Kenneth Williams officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence and suggest memorials be made to Boykins Baptist Church, 32057 Main Street, Boykins, Va. 23827, Boykins Fire and Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 347, Boykins, Va. 23827, or a favorite charity. Wright Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
