Holt, W. L. a/k/a William Leighton Born: Bedford County, Tenn. 1844. Enlisted: Fort Worth 1861. Army: Trans. Miss. Division Walker's. Brigade: Deshiel's (not sure about this spelling. I'm typing from a copied page that isn't a good copy) Regiment: 15th Texas. Company "E".
In Battle Cotton Plant, Ark., Ark. Post. My command all captured at Ark. Post. I made my escape and served in beef Department balance of time till close of war. Handles cotton for confederacy, mostly from Young County, Texas. Drove same and delivered on East side of Miss. River.

He was married twice: first to Rebecca Coombes and second to Carrie Edwards. Carrie is buried next to him.
