MOUNT VERNON - Robert Hester Wyler Jr., 85, died on Aug. 20, 2008, at the Knox Community Hospital after a short illness. He had been living in Mt. Vernon since 2002 with his daughter Cathy.

He was born on Sept. 25, 1922 in Henrietta Twp.

Robert served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1942 to 1945. Robert worked as a Dairy and Grain farmer for 50 years and also as a truck driver. He was a member of Broadway Assembly Church in Lorain where he served as a Deacon, Board Member, Head Usher, while also being active in Camp Blessing. He enjoyed travel, Ohio history, fishing and hunting.

Robert is survived by his wife of 64 years, Virginia D. Wyler, of Mt. Vernon; sons, David (Tami) Wyler and Dennis (Charlene) Wyler, both of Henrietta Twp.; daughters, Bonnie (Doug) Brucker of Vermilion, Cathy Wereley of Mt. Vernon and Brenda Wyler-Penkava of Camden Twp.; eight grandchildren, three step grandchildren, six great grandchildren, brother, Melvin Wyler of Martinsburg, W.V.; and sister Florence Roig of Elyria.

He is preceded in death by his father, Robert H. Wyler; mother, Minnie Twinning Wyler; brother, Leroy Wyler; and sister, Doris Powers.

Friends are welcomed to call or visit on Monday, Aug. 25, 2008 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. The funeral service will take place on Monday, Aug. 25, 2008 at Broadway Assembly Church, Lorain, Ohio. A private family burial will take place in Camden Twp. Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Elyria Post #1079. Interment will take place at Camden Cemetery on Monday, Aug. 25, 2008.
