Roy Lee Thompson, 93, of Arlington, Texas, formerly of Iredell, passed away Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, at Mitchell Cemetery in Iredell, Texas, with Rev. Richard Trotter officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Lawson Funeral Home Chapel in Meridian.

Roy Lee Thompson, 93 years, 8 months and 14 days, was born near Glen Rose in Somervell County, Texas, to the late Walter Newton Thonpson and Mary Caveness Thompson. He grew up and was educated in the Iredell area. He was first married to Rosie Mae Trotter and in 1957, he married Jerry Sue Montgomery.

Roy moved to Arlington where he worked as a aircraft parts inspector for many years before retiring. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosie, on March 12, 1956.

Survivors include his loving wife, Jerry Sue Montgomery Thompson; daughter, Judy Thomason and husband, Al; son, David Thompson and wife, Maria; grandchildren, Eugene Andrews, Christopher Thompson, Dustin Thompson, and Travis Chaffin; great-grandson, Bailey Andrews; and brother, Raymond Thompson.

Honored to be his pallbearers are Eugene Andrews, Christopher Thompson, Dustin Thompson, Travis Chaffin, Tommy Thompson and T. L. Thompson.
