Thelma M. Barnett
Thelma M. Barnett, 73, died at 8:50 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, 1986, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
She was born in Greene County Nov. 3, 1912, daughter of the late Steven and Julia (Swafford) Liles. In 1946, in Jacksonville, she married James Barnett, who died in 1973.
She was also preceded by five brothers and two sisters.
For 25 years, she was an operator for General Telephone Co. in Carrollton.
Surviving are two daughters, Jane Reeves of Eldred and Cathy Barnett of Wood River; three sons, Rick of Jacksonville, Jim of Houston, TX., and David of Columbus Air Force Base, Miss.; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Stewart of Lansing, IL., and Bessie Arnold of Jerseyville.
She was a former member of the Carrollton Christian Church.
Services were conducted at 10 a.m. Friday with the Rev. William Schmidt officiating at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton. Lela Thien was organist.
Pallbearers were: Tim Moulton, Chris Howard, Zack Holmes, Alan McGlasson, Greg Brauman and Bob Vetter.
Burial was in Carrollton City Cemetery.
Memorials have been suggested to the Illinois Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
