The Montgomery Advertiser, 31 Jan 1940-Equality, AL, Jan 30 - James Lee Penton, 75, died at his home here at 4:15 pm today after a brief illness. A native of Equality, he had taught school here for 26 years & had been outstanding in service to the community. The funeral will be from the home Weds. at 2 pm. Surviving are his widow; 3sons: L. B. Penton-Equality, W. L. Penton-Toronto, Canada & D. M. Penton - Montgomery; dau: Mrs. V. T. Thompson - Montgomery. 2bros: R. S. B.Penton-Equality & G. W. Penton-Montgomery. 8 gch. (4 Feb 1940)- (clipping file?) Pallbearers all great nephews were: Bernard Warren, Lehman Warren, Rufus Bross, Bernard Arant, Randolph Penton, Jr., & Willie Cousins.
