Funeral Service.
The funeral of Charles T. Allen who died at his home near Tekonsha Sunday was held at the residence Wednesday afternoon and was attended by neighbors, friends and relatives. Many beautiful floral pieces expressed the love and sympathy of friends of the family. Mrs. H. M. Doolittle and Mrs. H. A. Doolittle sang "Oh My Redeemer" and "In the Garden". Rev. A. C. Schue of the Tekonsha Union church officiated taking for his theme "Meeting the Inevitable" giving the scripture reading "There is but a step between me and death"--I Samuel 20:4--and be ye therefore ready for in such an hour as ye think not the son of man cometh"--Matt. 24:44. The pallbearers were B. E. Williams, L. W. Main, Harry Abendshein, W. A. Howard, Frank Blake and Wm. Murphy. Burial was at the Lyon lake cemetery.

Allen funeral Wednesday were Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Allen, Mrs. Fred Blanchard, Mr. and Mrs. Day Blanchard, Albion; Mr. and Mrs. Amos Hamilton, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Howe, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Blodgett, Homer; Fay Aurand, Lansing; Mr. and Mrs. Francis Tobin, Detroit; Frank Allen and son, Glen, Rockford, Ill.; Mrs. Ralph Rainey, Mrs. Sam Allen and family, Mrs. Allie Allen and family, Battle Creek; Mr. and Mrs. Clair Jennings, Mr. and Mrs. Dell Aurand, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Tingay, Mr. and Mrs. CClaude[sic] Mudlen and family, Marshall. The following members of the Battle Creek fire department attended the service: Asst. Chief J. Burrows, Capt. W. Watkins; A. Huff, J. Mellon, L. Delano, C. Rice, R. Hess, R. Wolford, H. Burgess, and M. T. Graham. Messrs. Burgess and Graham were accompanied by their families.


ALLEN--Charles Thomas Allen was born December 1st, 1865 in the township of Tekonsha and died November 24th, 1929 at the age of sixty-three years, eleven months and twenty-four days.
---The son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Allen, deceased, he was one of a family of nine children, six boys and three girls, Sarah, Sam, Hugh, Frank, and Howard, John, Corinda, Stella, deceased.
---Mr. Allen was married January 30th, 1895 to Eva R. Aurand, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Aurand, who were neighbors in the same community in which they have always lived. Unto this union were born two daughters, Blanche M. and Edith B.; also three grandchildren, Theda, Gerald and Dean Rainey. Mr. Allen was a kind and dutiful husband and a loving father , and while not in the best of health for several years, he always extended sympathies and kind wishes to his associates no matter where he came in contact.
