He married Eliza Julian Fleming on August 21, 1855 in Alachua Co., FL. They had two children in Florida before moving with his parents, siblings and their families to Texas in 1859. They settled in the Millville area of Rusk County. There they had six more children.
He served in the Confederate States Army, Co F 17th Regiment of Texas Cavalry along with his brother Churchill. He received a pension from the State of Texas for his service.
He died on April 27, 1911 in Rusk Co., TX and is buried in Millville Cemetery, Rusk. Co., TX.
