Death of Mrs. Wm. VanBuren

Miss Lavina Mann was born January 7, 1845, near the town of Kingsbury, Indiana, where she grew to womanhood and was married to Wm. VanBuren September 2, 1860. They continued to live in that locality until 1879, when they came to Walnut, which has been their home since.

Mrs. VanBuren had been sick several weeks and while dangerously ill most of the time there was some hope of her recovery until a few days before her death stroke of paralysis deprived her of all hopes of recovery, and she died at noon Thursday, January 7, 1902, on the fifty-seventh anniversary of her birth.

Mrs. VanBuren was the mother of nine children, but two of whom are yet living, Mrs. Emma Butcher and Mrs. Ed. Eckert (Ackart), who with their father are left to mourn the loss of a faithful wife and a loving mother.

Funeral services were held at the residence Thursday afternoon by Rev. Herron, of the Presbyterian church, from where the remains were followed to their last resting place in the family lot in the Walnut cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Hicker, sister and brother-in-law of the deceased, of McCall, Missouri, came up from their home and were present at the burial.
