William VanBuren passed away at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ackart, eight miles north of Walnut, on Tuesday morning, July 15th 1919, aged 77 years, 2 months and 11 days. (That location would put his death in Monroe Township in Shelby County.)

Deceased was born in Laporte, Indiana, (should be New York) on May 4th 1842. Came to Iowa about forty-three years ago and settled on a farm north of Walnut. He was united in marriage to Miss Lavina Ackart (should be Mann). To this union nine children were born, seven of whom preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his demise two daughters, a number of grandchildren and many friends. The daughters are: Mrs. Ed Ackart of Walnut, and Mrs. Emma Toel (Towle) of Avoca, Iowa.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. R. C. Buchanan of the M. E. church, were held at the Presbyterian church in Walnut on Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock. Interment was made in the Walnut cemetery.
