Funeral services for Rudolph Carl Parnell of Norfork will be at 2 pm today at the Norfork Baptist Church with the Rev. Forrest Bynum officiating.
Mr. Parnell, a lifetime resident of Baxter County, died Sunday at Baxter County Regional Hospital. He was 76.
Burial will be in Galatia Cemetery with Ross Alexander, Gene Alexander, Louis Alexander, Thurl Whitaker, Thurlo Sisk and Nelson Sailor serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Ralph Parnell, Eugene Waire, Willie Parnell, Hurshel Perry, Oscar Chapman, Richard Parnell, Verl Beucke, and Vero Hall.
Survivors include his wife, Iva, at home; three sons, Carl Dean King, Lawrence Parnell, and Keith Parnell, all of Norfork; three daughters, Marijo McFall, and Janice Gragg, both of Norfork, and Carol Winchester of Kansas City, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Solomon and Elizabeth Robertson Parnell; nine brothers; and two sisters.
Mr. Parnell, who was retired from the Corps of Engineers, was born Oct. 28, 1908, at Old Joe. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Norfork VFW Post. He married Ida Alexander Oct. 3, 1947, at Mountain Home. Mr. Parnell was a Baptist.
