HALLS - Thomas Walker Cleek Jr., 87, of Mesquite, Texas, formerly of Halls, retired associate professor of mathematics at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Ark., died of heart disease Tuesday at a nursing home in Mesquite.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Jackson Street Church of Christ in Magnolia, where he was a member, with burial in Halls Cemetery. Lewis Funeral Home in Magnolia has charge.
Mr. Cleek leaves a daughter, Juanita C. Cunningham of Dallas; a son, Thomas Cleek of West Fork, Ark.; two sisters, Helen Campbell of Lepanto, Ark., and Mildred Toliver of Mesa, Ariz.; a brother, Nathan Cleek of Las Cruces, N.M., five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Thomas Walker Cleek's wife was Naomi Cleek. Naomi was born in 1911 and died January 16, 1980. In 2001 there was no stone or marker for Mrs. Cleek in Magnolia Memorial Cemetery in Magnolia, AR according to Marcia Chapman who
canvassed the cemetery in January 2002.
The Cleeks lived in Magnolia, and Mr. Cleek taught at the college.
