Thomas Hugh Chaddick was born February 17, 1924 in Plano, Texas to Kruger and Lennie Rossetter Chaddick. He passed away November 2, 2009, at his farm in Van Alstyne, Texas. Tommy was a 1941 graduate of Plano High School and attended Texas A&M. During WWII, he enlisted as a Navy Sea-Bee stationed in Saipan. After the war, he was employed as a machinist by GSI which later became Texas Instruments. He machined the crystal puller which led to the development of the first commercial transistor. His proudest achievement was starting the first apprentice machinist program to be approved by the US Department of Labor. This program graduated 137 people from 1960-1989. He was an active member of Northway Christian Church of Dallas and The First Christian Church of Van Alstyne. Tommy enjoyed gardening, fishing and world travel. Preceded in death by his first wife Nan Carpenter-Chaddick. Survived by his wife Margaret Chaddick, and sons Mark Chaddick wife Susan, Tom Chaddick, Jr. and Hal Cooper. Also his stepdaughters, Sarah Thorne, Cathy Stroud, Barby Loftice, Jennifer Gorman and Marnie Norris. Along with, 14 grandchildren, and 10 great-grand children. Funeral services will be held 2pm Friday, November 6 in Van Alystne at the First Christian Church in Van Alstyne, with a graveside service to follow at Plano Mutual Cemetery in Plano, Texas. Visitation will be 6-8pm Thursday November 4 at Flesher Funeral Home in Van Alstyne. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Plano Mutual Cemetery Association or the First Christan Church Youth Program in Van Alstyne.
