Robert Lee Allen was born Jul 27, 1872, Clarke Co., AL. He died on Aug 18, 1951 at Ft. Worth, TX.
He was married at China Springs, TX on Aug 12 1897, to Nettie Gallagher (born mar 7, 1870, MS; died Jan 26, 1936 Dallas, TX), the daughter of Charles E. Gallagher and Margaret Hogge.
Both were buried Boyd Cem., Boyd, TX. Robert L. was the oldest son and he was but 12 years old when his father died. An uncle, Eli Reaves Allen, helped Robert Lee and his mother plant and care for crops for several years.
About 1900, Robert L., with several members of his family, moved to West Texas where they lived in various small towns of Merkel, Rotan, Claytonville, and Sweetwater.
Robert purchased and operated a cotton gin at Claytonville for
a time, and after that business burned, he purchased a section of farm land and a house in Rotan. While there, Robert built two stone store buildings.
In 1922 he traded his farm and other holdings at Rotan for business property in Arlington, TX. He spent the last 20 years of his life on a farm near Boyd, TX, about 30 miles north of Ft. Worth
