(1) "Rites today for David E. Acker" Services for Rev. David E. Acker, a longtime Baptist pastor in Wise County, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Boyd with burial at Boyd City Cemetery. Mr. Acker, a Dallas resident, died from aneurysm complications Tuesday at Doctors Hospital in Dallas. He was 85. A native of Oklahoma, Mr. Acker attended Decatur Baptist College, now Dallas Baptist University. He began his 52-year career in Wise County, and was pastor at churches in Fort Worth, Idaho and Arizona before returning to Wise County. He retired in 1989 after 18 years with Bethel Baptist Church near Alvord in North Texas. Mr. Acker is survived by his wife, Maggie Acker of Dallas, a daughter, Betty Hall of Mesquite; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
(2) Acker, David E., former Pastor of several churches in the Wise County area, service in the Pastoral Ministry for 52 years. Survived by wife, Maggie Acke; daughter & son-in-law, Betty & Billy E. Hall; grandsons, David E. & wife Nancy Hall, Britton & wife, Angie Hall; four great-grandchildren, Billy, Tracy, Robert & Olivia Hall. Funeral Services, 2:00 P.M., Thursday, March 5, 1992, at The First Baptist Church in Boyd, TX. Rev. Bill James Bell, officiating. Interment will follow in the Boyd Cemetery, Boyd, TX.
