Lou Newberry Maier - a native of Canoe, AL and resident of Mobile passed away on November 3, 2009, at the age of 91 in a local nursing home. Mrs. Maier was a long time member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church and currently a member of First Independent Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton H. Maier, Sr., and grandson, Thomas Maier, Jr. She is survived by two sons, Alton H. "Chip" Maier, Jr. (Karen) and Tommy Maier (Frances); two granddaughters, Cynthia Maier and Ellen Maier; nieces and nephews. Graveside services and interment will be held in Mobile Memorial Gardens on Friday, November 6, 2009, at 12 noon. Visitation will be held from Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Friday, November 6, from 11 a.m. until the service hour. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Odyssey Foundation, 2800 Dauphin St., Mobile, AL 36606 or the charity of your choice.
