Deana Hope Scott was born August 25, 1925 in Spring City, Utah to Rudolph Hope and Crystal Christofferson Hope. She has two sisters, Arlea Howell and Carolyn Johnson, and one brother, David.

Deana passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2009. She resided at 115 East 500 North in Spring City, Utah at the time of her death.

She married Douglas W. Scott on September 10, 1947, and they were blessed with three sons, Wally (Jenifer); Brent (Joyce); and John (Mary).

She was raised in Spring City, attended Spring City Elementary School, and North Sanpete High School. She was very proud of her Sanpete heritage, and her pioneer predecessors.

She was involved in the Friends of Historic Spring City, and was anxious that the Elementary School, as well as the other historic structures in the town, along with their histories, not be forgotten. She was a working mom, and was proud of her contribution to the family. Dad was trying to start up a business early in their marriage, and she lent her full support.

She spent most of her working career as a clerk in the federal court. She commented that it was at times fascinating, and at other times just the opposite. She said that she learned enough in the courtroom observing and listening to cases to have earned several college degrees.

She and dad loved to travel. They had been to most of the fifty states, and many foreign countries. They enjoyed Europe, and especially Norway, where mom found several relatives. She made friends easily, and had many.

Mom and Dad were part of several dinner groups that had been getting together from the time they were all newlyweds until they reached the point that their health wouldn't allow it. Of all her accomplishments, she was most proud of her family.

She enjoyed getting together with all the relatives any time she could. She looked forward to the holiday season, and it's many opportunities to get together with family. She particularly enjoyed the Christmas season, and started playing Christmas music in September every year.

Deana is preceded in death by her husband, Doug, and her grandson Christian. She is survived by her sons and their spouses, ten grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, her sisters Arlea and Carolyn, and brother David.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South. Friends and family may call on Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m., and one hour prior to the services at the mortuary.
Interment: Larkin Sunset Lawn Cemetery.
