GEORGE ACKELSON BURIED AT PERU
George Ackelson, a native of the Peru community, died Dec. 23 at Des Moines at the age of 87 years.
Mr. Ackelson was a son of Thomas and Ellen Donaldson Ackelson, and was born near Peru on March 6, 1872 [1873]. He married Cora Alley on Sept. 10, 1894. They were parents of 13 children.
He moved to Des Moines in 1918. He was employed at the Crescent Chevrolet company for many years, but had been retired in recent years.
Surviving are the following children: Virdie and Vernon Ackelson of South Bend, Ind., George of Amhersdale, W.V., Edna Wilkerson of Iowa City, Carl, John, Leo, and Edgar Ackelson and Clarkie Cleghorn of Des Moines. He also leaves 36 grandchildren and 55 great grandchildren.
The body was brought to the Peru cemetery for burial.
