Alice Irene Stephens was born in LaPorte, Indiana, on the 4th of July, 1917, to Justus LeOtto and Marie Brettin Stephens. Alice graduated from Clinton Township High School in 1963 and attended many alumni reunions. She married John W. Cromey on December 12, 1939; they were longtime farmers in the LaPorte area. In 1978 she moved to Orange Grove RV Park in Edinburg, Texas. There she met Robert Muir, whom she married on October 18, 1988. They were active in the Calvary Baptist Church and traveled extensively across the United States, Canada, Mexico, Panama Canal, Great Britain and Scotland. Alice was an avid gardener.
