Mrs. Ethel V. Swenson
Eskridge-Mrs. Ethel Viola Swenson, 81, Eskridge, died Saturday, Oct 27, at a Topeka hospital.
She was born March 3, 1903, at Minneapolis, the daughter of John and Irene Felt Dewey. She lived in Eskridge the past 42 years.
Mrs. Swenson was a member of Ideal Homemakers Extension Homemakers Unit, Eskridge Study Club and Eskridge Senior Citizens. She also was a member of Dwight Chapter No. 318 of the Order of Eastern Star at Dwight.
She was married to Ollie Harold Swenson June 16, 1924, at Salina. He died May 12, 1980.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Linda Pugh, Eskridge, and Mrs. Lorna Newby, Scottsdale, Ariz.; three sons, Dean Swenson, Eskridge, Dale Swenson, St. Louis, Mo., and Stanley Swenson, Sacramento, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Lena Palmer, Thomas, Okla., and Mrs. Juanita Love, Emporia; two brothers, Paul Dewey, Emporia, and Elmer Dewey, Waverly, and 11 grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Emanuel United Methodist Church at Alta Vista. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery at Alta Vista. Mrs. Swenson will lie in state from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. today and until noon Monday at Austin-Callahan Funeral Home in Eskridge where memorial contributions may be made to Eskridge Ambulance Service.
