Funeral services for Verle Ray Jones of El Reno will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Buckett officiating. Interment will be in the El Reno Cemetery.
Verle Ray Jones went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009. He was born Jan. 24, 1940, in El Reno to Albert and Margaret Jones. He was a graduate of El Reno High School and had served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Jones was a longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church and a member of N.R.A. and AARP.
"Ray," as he was known to family and friends, was a life-long resident of El Reno. He retired from Dusters and Sprayers Supply in Chickasha. He devoted much of his time and energy as a caregiver to family members. He was an amazing son, brother, uncle, cousin, great-uncle and great-great-uncle. He touched his family and friends and all those around him with his kindness, caring and gentle ways.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Margaret (Burton) Jones; and his sister and brother-in-law, Alberta Chambers and Robert W. Chambers.
Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Jan Cure and husband, Harold of Piedmont; and his nieces and nephews, James and Linda Rothfuchs, Robert L. Chambers, Les and Donna Avant, Steve and Pam Adamson, Bryan and Meleata Adamson, William P. and Crystal Chambers, Bo and Brenda McNeely and Tim and Sheri Edwards. He was loved by all of his 36 great-nieces and nephews and nine great-great-nieces and nephews and many cousins.
