Born in Litzelstetten, Konstanz, Baden-Württemberg, was Philipp Conrad on his mariage license.From the Pekin newspaper, April 11, 1916:

C.W. Himmel, father of Mrs. Phil Reinhart, of this city, died yesterday at his home near Bishop, Ill. His death was due to a stroke of paralysis in February, which affected his entire right side.

The deceased was born in West Baden, Germany, January 24, 1836.

He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Mary Heinhorst, of Bishop, and the following children: Mrs. C.H. Kroel, of Havana; W.C. Himmel, of Manito; S.K. Himmel, of Washington; Mrs. H.H. Meyer, of Parkland; Mrs. Frank Armbruster, of Topeka, Kan.; Mrs. Ivin Neikirk, of Forest City; Mrs. J.F. Meyer, of Topeka, Kansas; Mrs. Phil Reinhart, of Pekin; and R.C. Himmel, of Topeka. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon from the Bishop Evangelical church. Rev. Platte officiating. Interment in the Bishop cemetery.
