Mr. Roberts, Spanish War Veteran, Dies
Fred Caryle Roberts, 82, an Arizona resident the past 62 years, died early yesterday in the Veteran's Administration Hospital.
Mr. Roberts, who lived at 925 N. Tyndall Ave., was a veteran of the Spanish-American War and was in the Philippines for two years during the conflict.
He was a resident of Tucson for 59 years after coming here from Flagstaff. He operated Roberts Garage until his retirement 10 years ago. He came to Arizona from Lawrence, Kan.
He was a member of the Arizona Pioneers Historical Society and St. Philips-in-the-Hills Episcopal Church.
In 1905 he married Clara Fish who was a member of the first graduating class at the University of Arizona.
Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife and three children, F. Carlyle Jr. of Kansas City, Mo., Roswell R., San Marino, Calif., and Mrs. Virginia Flaccus, Sherman, Tex., and seven grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are to be announced by the Parker-Kerr Mortuary.
