Ruth Dodson Spencer, Lawsonville, NC, 83, of 1184 Moore Rd., went to be with the Lord, Friday, September 14, 2012, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 16, 2012, at Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel in Sandy Ridge. Interment will follow in the Spencer Family Cemetery, Lawsonville, NC.

Ruth was born August 4, 1929, in Stokes County, to the late Albert and Nancy Webb Dodson and was the last of 14 children. She loved living in the country and her green thumb was a gift of God. Also, she had a great art talent, painting oil landscapes and homeplace scenes. She was known for her charitable spirit toward those less fortunate. She attended Lawsonville Church of God as long as her health permitted. She will be greatly missed.

Shehe was preceded in death by her husband, Walter E. Spencer; ten brothers, and three sisters.

Survivors include a son, Wade Thomas Spencer, two daughters, Rebecca (Earle) Sullivan and Arlene (Terry) Neal; sisters-in-law, Lenora Smith and Ruby Dodson; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
