Service for Vernon Walker, 86, of Paradise was Wednesday, July 18, at the Coker Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur. The Rev. Charles Taylor officiated. Burial followed at Paradise Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Edward and Fred Walker, Bobby Waters, Danny Stokes, Micheal Sanders and Bob Chapman.

Walker died July 15, 2001, in Fort Worth.

Born March 13, 1915, in the Deep Creek area, Walker was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Rhome. He married Margarite Stokes in Paradise on Oct. 1, 1973.

He is survived by one brother, Clarence "Rip" Walker of Rhome; his nieces, June Pynes, Betty Miner, Carolyn Roger, Nelda Chapman, Karol Wood and Carla Waters; his nephews, Ed Walker, Fred Walker, Lynn Walker, Donald Stokes, David Stokes, Danny Stokes and Jay Stokes.
