Memorial service for Velma Swinney, 97, of Paradise was to be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, at Paradise Church of Christ. Sam Starr was to officiate. Burial was to follow at Paradise Cemetery.

Swinney died Sunday, July 16, 2006, in Paradise.

Born Nov. 6, 1908, in Medina she was a retired cook for Wyatt's Cafeteria and was a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, T.V. "Hardy" Swinney; her husband of 10 years, Weldon Swinney; and 11 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by two daughters, Pauline Williams of Paradise and Louise Goble and husband, Dick, of Colorado; a son, James Swinney and wife, Faye, of Granbury; nine grandchildren, Dale Tucker, Janice Sanders, Rod Goble, Cherry Watson, Karla Goble, Jimmy Swinney, Kenny Swinney, Karen Kelly and Teresa Swinney; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were to be Joe, Cole, Blake, David and Michael Tucker and Rodney Cox. Honorary pallbearers were to be Dale Tucker, Earl Sanders, Rod Goble, Jimmy Swinney and Kenny Swinney.
