MRS. T.G. HICK DIES OF HEART TROUBLE

Mrs. T.G. Hicks passed away last Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at her home in the Campaign neighborhood, very suddenly. She had just returned with her husband and family from Sunday school and had gone upstairs when the family heard her call for help and rushed to her, but she lived only a few minutes.

The funeral was held Wednesday at the Christian Church in this city, where a host of friends and neighbors gathered to pay their parting respect. November 9, buried in Hugoton Cemetery.

The story of her life is found in the obituary which follows.

ELECTA HANNAH BURROWS, daughter of J.R. and Nancy Burrows was born April 3, 1870 in Cherokee county, Kansas, passed away at ther home in Stevens County, Kans, Sunday, November 6, 1932, at 12:30 p.m., at the age of 62 years, 7 months, and 3 days.

She was united in marriage to T.G. Hicks, October 9, 1887. To this union were born four sons and three daughters; Mrs. Iola Galusha, Pueblo, Colorado; Mrs. Vienna Burton, Rolla, Kans.; Herman L., Gilbert W.; Stanley C., Mrs Elsie Fields, all of Stevens Co, and Arland D., who passed away at the age of 4 years.

In November 1906, together with her family she moved to Stevens Co. where she has since lived.

At the age of 11 years she was baptized and united with the Christian Church at Crestline, Kans., since that time she has been an active and devoted worker in the church rarely missing services until the past few years. She was the first person to suggest that a Christian church be formed at Hugoton and was instrumental in getting it organized. She would stay at home and take care of things while her husband, Bro T.G. Hicks would go out and inspire and persuade others to work for the church. Many times when he would come home late at night she would have to know about his success before she could again sleep. Her strong point in life was doing the common duties and sacrifices of life in the home and community that was so necessary for the comfort, the happiness and the advancement of others. Surely we can say of her as was said of Mary of old; "She hath done what she could."

These words of Paul lit her life: "I have fought a good fight, I have kept the faith; henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, but not to me only, but to all who shall love his appearing."

She leaves behind a devoted husband, six children, fifteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, three brothers, Charles Burrows, Pritchett Colo; W.F. Burrows and J.H. Burrows of Stevens Co., three sisters, Mrs. A.E. Walker, Crestline Kans, Mrs. J.W. Patterson, Rollo, & Mrs. Chas Nordyke, Sask. Can.
