PELLA -- Will D. Van Wyk, 86, of Pella, a former Sully area resident, died today, Dec. 12, at the Pella Community Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Calvary Christian Church. The Rev. John Gorter and the Rev. Siebert Kramer, pastors of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Sully Cemetery. Friends may call at the Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella all day Wednesday. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials to the Christian Opportunity Center will be accepted.
Survivors are five sons, Armour R., Delmer G., Dennis W., and Norman L., all of Pella, and Elvin E. of Reasnor; two daughters, Anna Mae (Mrs. Herman) Van Mersberger and Gerdena (Mrs. Charles) Stursma, both of Pella; 38 grandchildren; and 59 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Lowis of Pella, Lester of Sully and Elmer of Pella; and three sisters, Triny Jansen and Ann Van Weeden, both of Sully, and Heneretta Beyer of Pella. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Nellie, in 1981, an infant daughter, Nella Ruth, a son, Wallace in 1985, a granddaughter, two brothers, Raymond and Clarence; and a sister, Emma Jochems. Mr. Van Wyk farmed in the Sully community until 1960 when he moved to Pella where he was a nurseryman for 10 years. The son of Dick and Anna Hoksbergen Van Wyk, he was born Aug. 9, 1903 in Sully and attended Sully schools.
