Jane Anderson Hensley
Jane Anderson began her life in the state of Tennessee, Aug. 28, 1837, leaving at the home of her son Dudley Hensley near Blandinsville, Ill[.], at 1 p. m., June 23, 1915, her stay on earth consisting of 77 years, 9 months and 26 days. She came to McDonough county, Ill[.], 71 years ago and has been a continuous resident ever since. At the age of 17 she united with the Christian church and has been a staunch supporter of the same for three score years.
Jane Anderson was married to Henry Hensley at Macomb, May 21, 1859, and became the mother of 5 children. One boy and the father have gone on before. She leaves John H., Mary W., Milton Dudley and Luther, 22 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren [sic] to follow.
Sister Hensley was a good woman, a tender mother. She has borne life's battles faithfully. Her's [sic] has been a long pilgrimage with the usual sunshine and shadow, bright and happy days and those that were dark, and
"When sinks the soul subdued by toil, to slumber,
Its closing eye looks up to Thee in prayer
Sweet the repose, beneath Thy love o'ershadowing
But Sweeter still to wake and find Thee there."
Her life has been one of faith and trust in God. It has only begun in its reality.
Funeral services were held at the Christian church on Thursday, June 24 at 2:30 p. m., the Rev. J. G[.] Slick officiating. The interment was in Glade City cemetery. ~Sisters Martha and Jane married brothers, Byers and Henry, respectively.
