BAXTER - Earl J. DeRocher, age 75, resident of Baxter, Minn., died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006, at Woodland Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd. Earl was born March 29, 1931, in Brainerd to Earl and Lena (Gravelle) DeRocher. He was a graduate of the University of Minnesota-Duluth where he majored in biology with a chemistry minor. He lettered in football at UMD and was honored as "Lineman of the Year." He was honorably discharged from the Army National Guard and other memberships including the Elks, Rotary and the American Legion. He was employed by Northwest Paper/Potlatch in various technical positions and in sales, finishing his career as plant manager.

Survivors include son, John E. (Jane) DeRocher, of Esko, Minn.; daughter, Lynn R. (Allen) Tredeau, of Seattle; five grandchildren, Amanda, David, John, Eric and Alex; and his brother, Darien DeRocher, of Brainerd.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Joan.

Memorial services will be noon Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006, at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd with Father Kristoffer McKusky officiating. Burial will be in Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery at Camp Ripley with military honors by American Legion Post No. 255 Color Guard.
