Jim D. Manning, 59, died Feb. 20.
Services were held Feb. 22 at Scott's Funeral Home with Rev. Willie Clarke officiating. Burial was in Restland Cemetery.
Born June 2, 1930, in Coryell County, he was reared and attended school in Odessa.
He married Lorena Boone on May 31, 1954. He and his wife moved to Gatesville in 1962.
He had been employed by civil service as a supply specialist for 21 years, retiring in 1984. An avid rancher, he was a veteran of the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by a son, Tony, in 1974.
Survivors include: his wife; two sons, Steve Manning and Tracy Manning, both of Gatesville; his parents, William (Bill) Cole and Lela Mae Manning of Gatesville; two sisters, Neta Brown of Gatesville and Mary Smith of Conroe; two brothers, Jack Manning of Odessa and Fred Manning of Andrews; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Alan Daschofsky, T.R. Thomas, Jimmy Wood, Andy Smith, Carlos Webb and Morris Scruggs.
The family requests memorials be made to the cardiac department of Providence Hospital in Waco.
