Sarah was born just north of Pella, Iowa and she was the second child of 10 children that were born to John N. and Jeannette Vos Mathes. Being the oldest daughter, she spent a lot of time caring for her younger siblings. Sarah was also a receptionist for a Dr and a Dentist and then 20th of October 2009 she passed away in Oskaloosa at 101 years, 10 months and five days.
