Doris Eleanor Carter, 73, of Calabash died Friday, October 30, 2009, at Brunswick Community Hospital after a courageous battle and surrounded by her family. She was born November 29, 1935, a daughter of the late Luther and Ruby Mae Stevens Carter. She was preceded in death by her husband, TSGT Lenford Iverson Carter, USAF Retired, as well as her son, Ron Carter, brothers, Dr. Joseph B. Carter and Eugene Carter, and sisters, Ruby Dell Hardwick and Mary Bellamy.

Surviving are two sons, Jeff Carter and his wife, Tonya, of Calabash and Rick Carter of Calabash; a daughter, Janet Randone and her husband, Steve, of Calabash; two sisters, Frances Brown of Supply and Shirley Carter of Calabash; a sister-in-law, Clara Carter of Supply; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Monday, November 2, 2009 in the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Bill Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the Manley Bennett Cemetery.
